Building Emotional Understanding (Marin)
Led by Deborah Betz and Torri Chappell
This class is for parents, stepparents, grandparents and professionals who work with families. The class will focus on ways to work together to build emotional understanding with children from toddlers through school age. We will examine the principles and practices of Parenting by Connection, and will focus on the challenges involved in building connection with children. Essential tools to build connection in families are taught in this class. Researchers have called these skills the "super-protective factor" that leads to positive adolescent outcomes and happy productive lives for children. Each class participant will be encouraged to use "Listening Tools" on a regular basis between classes, and experiences will be shared, creating a broad experience base for learning and mutual support.
