Q: How does one-on-one parent consulting work?
A: We work primarily with individuals by telephone. Most of the parents we work with read our popular Listening to Children booklets before their first consultation. (An ebook of Listening to Children is included in your consultation.) During the one-on-one consultation, you can discuss your unique family situation and get specific suggestions on how to apply our tools, reduce parental stress, build stronger connections in your family, increase cooperation and minimize unhelpful conflict.
Q: Who are your parent consultants?
A: Our parent consulting is done by Hand in Hand staff members and Certified Parenting by Connection Instructors who are parents themselves. Our consultants are chosen for their substantial personal and professional experience helping parents apply our tools to universal family challenges.
Q: How do I get started?
A: Simply register to schedule your first consultation. We do our best to respond within 24 hours on weekdays. Once you've registered for a session, we link you via e-mail with a consultant whose experience matches your needs. You and the consultant will then arrange a time to talk.
Q: Do you have consultants who can work in my native language?
A: We have consultants fluent in English, Spanish, Hebrew and Japanese.
Q: What if I just want to ask my questions over the phone?
You are welcome to call our office at 650-322-5323 to ask your questions about consulting free of charge, no appointment necessary.
Q: How much does one-on-one consulting cost?
A: The initial fee for parent consulting by telephone is $125 per hour. The initial fee includes a free pdf of Listening to Children ($20 value). Follow-up consultations are available for shorter times, as are packages of consulting time at a discount.
Q: Can I pay by credit card?
A: When you sign up for a consultation, you will pay via credit card or PayPal.
Q: What is your consulting schedule?
A: Hand in Hand consultants are usually available between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. Other times can be arranged individually as needed. Since we work with parents from different parts of the world, here's our schedule for several time zones:
US/Canada, Pacific: 8:00 am – 8:00 pm,
US/Canada, Mountain: 9:00 am – 9:00 pm,
US/Canada, Central: 10:00 am – 10:00 pm,
US/Canada, Eastern: 11:00 am – 11:00 pm,
United Kingdom: After 6pm,
Central Europe: After 7pm (19.00),
Southern Hemisphere: If you live "Down Under" we can arrange for you to speak with one of our consultants in Australia.
Q: Is in-person consulting available?
A: If a Hand in Hand consultant who is a good match for your family is available near where you live, in-person consultations can be arranged for an added fee.
Q: What if it doesn't work out for me?
A: Our intention is to make a real difference for you and your family. So we offer a simple guarantee: If you aren't completely satisfied with your consulting session, just let us know and we’ll either schedule you with a different consultant, or refund your fee.
