Consultations

When your child is stuck in difficult or unworkable behavior, you want a solution now. It's not always easy to find the time to attend workshops and classes. You can get personalized help right now with a confidential parent-to-parent consultation.

In your one-on-one, phone or video consultation you will:

  • Be thoughtfully matched with an experienced consultant based on your family's specific needs.
  • Be given time to unravel the roots of the problem behavior.
  • Receive practical tools and specific steps to take to bring warmth, laughter, and cooperation back into your home.

Our consultants are passionate about making a real difference for your family. If you’re not completely satisfied, we’ll refund your money or connect you with another consultant at no charge. A very limited number of consultations with Hand in Hand Founder, Patty Wipfler, are made available at the beginning of each month. If you are unable to place a Patty consultation in your cart, try again at the beginning of the following month.

“Since using Hand in Hand Parenting tools, we've noticed that my daughter is a lot happier and easier…she will accept ‘negotiations’ or alternatives if what she wants is not possible in the moment, whereas before, not getting exactly what she wanted prompted a full meltdown. It seems the crying is decreasing in length. Everyone in the household is much happier!” — Cheryl Ruyle

One-on-One Consultations Frequently Asked Questions

Hand in Hand's parent consultants are chosen for their deep experience in mentoring parents as they learn to apply the Hand in Hand Parenting approach to their relationships with their children. In general, the issues we handle are those covered by the articles posted on our website. We are excellent at supporting parents through the emotional burdens of parenting in many situations.

However, our parent consultants do not work in a professional therapist's capacity, nor do they do couples counseling. We do not advise parents on issues such as teen drug addiction, teen eating disorders, teen self-harm, diagnosis of severe psychiatric disorder in children, child abuse, child sexual abuse, sexual assault, and/or allegations of abuse or assault.

Will I meet in-person or talk to you over the phone?
Your consultation will take place by telephone or videoconference.

What happens first?
You’ll fill out a questionnaire to share the nature of your concerns, the age(s) of your child(ren), and your available times.

Who is my consultant?
Your consultant will be a Hand in Hand Certified Instructor who is also a parent. Our consultants have been chosen for their substantial personal and professional experience helping parents apply our tools to universal family challenges. If you wish to consult with Patty, be sure to select that option at checkout. If she is ‘sold out', then check back at the beginning of the next month for a slot.

Is my consultant a licensed therapist?
Several of our consultants are licensed therapists, but your consultant will not be working as a licensed professional with you. Your consultant will work with you as a parenting coach, experienced in Hand in Hand Parenting tools and practice.

How do I get started?
Simply register to schedule your first consultation. We do our best to respond within 24 hours on weekdays. Once you have registered for a session and returned your questionnaire, you'll be connected with a consultant whose experience matches your needs. You and the consultant will then arrange a time to talk.

I don’t speak English–can you still work with me?
We’ll try to find a common language. We have consultants fluent in English, Spanish, Hebrew, German, and Japanese.

How much does it cost?
The fee is $147 for one hour with a Certified Consultant. One hour with our Founder, Patty Wipfler is $297.

What is your cancellation policy?
All of our consultants are parents who love this work and whose time is valuable. If you need to cancel please let the consultant know 24 hours in advance, whenever possible. We understand that life happens. If the consultation time is missed without notice you will be charged $30. If a second call is missed your original fee will be forfeited and you will need to purchase additional time.

Can I pay by credit card?
Yes. We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. You can also pay via PayPal.

I live in a different time zone. Can you still consult with me?
Yes, we have instructors all over the world (West to East Coast USA to the UK to Australia) who are able to support parents in any time zone.

Is in-person consulting available?
If there is a Hand in Hand consultant who is both a good match for your family and in your proximity, then we can arrange an in-person consultation for an added fee.

What if it doesn’t work out for me?
You have our guarantee: If you aren’t completely satisfied with your consulting session, just let us know and we’ll either schedule you with a different consultant, or refund your fee.

A different approach makes all the difference: turn things around in your family.
