Online Starter Class for Fathers
Mondays 7pm PDT starting April 26
Registration deadline April 19, minimum 5 participants (sign up with a friend!)
All parents deserve support for the emotionally taxing job of raising children. I think we men face a particular set of challenges when it comes to reaching out for this support. If you’re anything like me, perhaps you’ve had these thoughts: What does “support” even mean? What difference will it make? I think I can figure this out on my own. Or, my personal favorite: My wife is handling it, so we’re good!
That’s why I’m offering this parenting class just for dads. Support FOR YOU is on the way!
In this six-week Starter Class, we will focus on building connections with each other as we decode our children’s challenging behaviors and use Hand in Hand’s heart-centered tools to transform the way we parent. You will learn and practice the Hand in Hand Parenting approach, including:
- The important link between a child’s felt sense of connection with you and their behavior
- Why the traditional parenting tools of rewards, bribes, threats, and punishments don’t actually work very well
- Four new, connection-based parenting tools that actually DO work
- Why we are harsh or “lose it” with our children and what we can do about it
- One effective way to replenish your energy for parenting by exchanging listening support with other parents
The course includes an online classroom with short videos and readings organized into manageable weekly at-home assignments. The weekly Zoom meeting will give us a chance to connect, share stories, ask questions, and exchange listening support. The call will last 60-90 minutes depending on the number of participants.
Here’s what fathers have said about Blake’s Starter Classes:
“Blake Adams is awesome! His passion for this work shows when he is listening and talking. He has great balance when deciding when to talk and when to listen. His ability to give everyone a chance to express themselves was comforting to me. I never felt like I was out of place during each class because Blake created a safe environment for all his students. Lastly, it was impressive to see how Blake can pivot from topic to topic and still keep the information relevant to the class.”
~ Shawn, father of 3-year-old twins
“Blake's teaching style, being open about his parenting challenges, helped me see that I can do this. I can have a great relationship with my daughter. Blake set the tone that helped everyone feel safe to share openly. Everyone sharing frankly created that magic you feel when you attend a class you wish never ends. With tears of thankfulness in my eyes, I say, thank you, Blake, for helping me to become a better parent.”
~ Ira, father of 3-year-old daughter
