Instructor Certification Pathway
UPDATED FOR 2026
You've seen what happens when parents have real support.
The tantrums that used to derail the whole day? Now they're moments of connection. The sibling battles? Opportunities to strengthen relationships. The guilt and exhaustion? Replaced with confidence and—dare we say—joy.
You've begun to experience this transformation in your own family or in your work. And now you want to continue the process and perhaps share it with others.
Hand in Hand's Instructor Certification Pathway is one way to take your passion for connection-based parenting and turn it into something bigger: a way to support families in your community, your school, your practice—wherever parents are struggling and searching for something that actually works.
Phase 1: Training Intensive (9 months)
Deepen your understanding of the Hand in Hand approach. Join a cohort of like-minded parents and professionals for advanced training, mentorship, and the kind of ongoing support most people only dream about.
For some, this phase feels complete in itself.
For those who feel called to teach, successful completion of the Training Intensive makes you eligible to apply for the Leadership Practicum.
Phase 2: Leadership Practicum (3 months)
By application after completing Phase 1 and meeting specific requirements
Develop your teaching skills with structured feedback and support. After you complete the Leadership Practicum and the requirements, you’ll be ready for your Certification Interview.
Once you pass your interview, you’ll become a Certified Hand in Hand Certified Instructor, prepared to lead Foundations Courses and bring this work to families who need it.
You don’t need to be fluent in English to join the Certification Program — just a basic understanding is enough. If you have any concerns, we are here to help. Simply email certification [at] handinhandparenting [dot] org.

ℹ️ Applications for the 2026 Certification Pathway are now OPEN through May 15, 2026.
Start with a Foundations Course—the prerequisite for the Certification Pathway. This is also a great opportunity to experience the approach before committing to advanced training.

Many people come to Hand in Hand looking for tools, and stay because they experience something deeper.
An approach that includes the adult.
That honors the whole person.
That makes connection feel possible again.
This is why we developed this Program.
It's designed to support those who feel called to carry this work forward, either in your own life or with others — not as experts with answers, but as people who know how to listen, stay present, and offer real support to families and communities doing their best.
Because the way we support children and the adults who care for them doesn't shift through information alone.
It happens when support is passed on — hand to hand.
"At first, I felt overwhelmed when I saw the Certification outline. I thought, 'How am I going to fit all of this in?' It’s a rigorous process, but it offers so many opportunities for learning at your own pace.
And the support? It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I’ve taken University courses and other training, but this was truly profound. It’s an incredibly nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages deep self-reflection, helping you discover what you bring to the process and how you can be supported in return.
The transformation is real and life-changing. The more support you receive, the more space you have to share your challenges, vulnerabilities, and growth. Your leadership skills develop in ways you never expected."
