I first discovered Hand in Hand in 2016 whilst pregnant with my son. At the time I had been working at the Mental Health Hospital and was disturbed by the disciplinary methods parents were being taught to use with their children. I vowed to myself that I would do it differently with my son, and after attending a Hand in Hand talk on understanding children’s emotions I was inspired by what I had heard, and the philosophy and approach resonated with me.
I have been using the tools throughout my parenting journey, and they helped me immensely to work through the emotional rollercoaster of being a first time mum.
I have 11 years of experience working as a psychologist, across various private and public settings, and more recently specialising in working with parents, adolescents and children in private practice. I have shared the Parenting by Connection approach with parents and seen the transformative impact of these tools in families. I have recently undertaken a qualitative research project as part of my Masters of Clinical Psychology evaluating the experience of the Hand in Hand Starter class.
I am passionate about empowering and supporting parents to feel more confident and pleased with their parenting and enabling families to bring warmth, fun and laughter into their home.
