Parenting is challenging, but it can also be deeply rewarding. “Listen: Five Simple Tools to Meet Your Everyday Parenting Challenges” gives you the guidance and support you need to create a nurturing, connected family environment.

Whether you’re dealing with tantrums, defiance, or everyday stresses, the 5 key tools in this book will help you turn challenges into opportunities for growth and connection.

  • SPECIAL TIME
Put your child in charge for a short amount of time, as you delight in them.
  • SETTING LIMITS
Stop off-track behaviour with love, listening, and respect.
  • STAYLISTENING
Listen deeply with warm attention at the most challenging times.
  • PLAYLISTENING
Connect as you take the less powerful role and listen for the laughter.
  • LISTENING PARTNERSHIPS
Exchange listening time with another adult to release stress.

These tools are grounded in the evidence-based, trauma-informed Hand in Hand Parenting approach, which focuses on building strong, empathetic connections between parents and children, using listening, emotional support, and play to address behavioral challenges and foster resilience.

The book “Listen” is divided into 4 sections:

  • Part 1. “A new perspective on parenting”.
  • Part 2. “Your powerful parenting toolbox” – all about the 5 Tools.
  • Part 3. “Solutions for everyday parenting challenges” – real-life examples for building cooperation, responding to separation anxiety, lifting fears, and moving beyond aggression.
  • Part 4. “Our future, connected” – practical ideas around connecting when you’re at wits’ end and building support for your parenting.

After reading this book, you will have:

  • Discovered ways to deepen your connection with your child, fostering a more loving and secure relationship and a more harmonious home.
  • Gained confidence in your parenting because you now have Tools that help you navigate difficult moments without feeling overwhelmed or stressed.
  • Improved your ability to listen and respond to your child’s needs, leading to better understanding and cooperation.
